Talay Wineries was founded in 1948 on Bozcaada, as a family enterprise by brothers Necati, Hayati, and Sebati Talay.
It got off the blocks as a small “bulk wine” shop, but later – in 1955 – started to bottle their product.
Today, with a capacity of about 2.5 million liters, Talay grows mainly local grape varieties such as Vasilaki, Karalahna, and Kuntra.
In 1999, Talay updated its facilities on Bozcaada to state-of-the-art levels, with the intention to gain market share in the domestic “quality wine” sector, as well as to present a greater selection of products to wine connoisseurs.
From grapes exclusively grown in the Canakkale and Bozcaada regions, Talay produces a total of 23 different wines, all from their own vineyards. Furthermore, these same vineyards are now also home to European varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot, which will produce their first vintage in the coming years.
